ALGIERS- Algeria and Cuba are united by privileged historical relations which go back to the common struggle of their peoples and their commitment to support just causes worldwide. The quality of political relations with their human dimensions is a prelude to a new stage of close bilateral cooperation in all areas.

The working and friendship visit by Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermúdez to Algeria coincides with the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the historic diplomatic relations between the two friendly countries, relations established before the independence of Algeria and have been maintained, subsequently, through the support of the two countries for the just causes of the peoples and their right to freedom, particularly the Palestinian and Sahrawi causes, in addition to solidarity, cooperation and the coordination of diplomatic positions in the various international forums.

The Cuban President was welcomed, upon his arrival, Wednesday evening, at Houari Boumediene International Airport in Algiers, by Prime Minister, Mr. Aïmene Benabderrahmane in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad Mr. Ramtane Lamamra and members of the Government.
