Algeria exports USD4.3 bn in first two months of 2021

ALGIERS- The overall amount of Algeria exports over the first two months of 2021 reached USD4.3 billion, including USD402 million in non-hydrocarbon exports, the ministry of Trade told APS.

The overall value of exports during the January-February period fell 22.7% compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year when it stood at 5.6 billion USD, the ministry said.

On the other hand, an increase of 18.6% during this period was observed in non-hydrocarbon exports, reaching 402 million USD, while they did not exceed 339 million USD during the first half of 2020, added the same source.

Fertilizers represent 33.1% of the total amount of non-hydrocarbon exports during January-February 2021, followed by inorganic chemicals which account for 17.0% of this recipe, closely followed by sugar and preparations based on sugar and honey (16.2%), fruits and vegetables (7.1% ), iron and steel ( 6.7% ), other products (19.8%), the ministry added.

As a reminder, the overall value of exports during the last year (2020) amounted to 23.8 billion USD, with 2.25 billion USD collected thanks to non-hydrocarbon shipments.
