Non-hydrocarbon exports up 59% in Q1 2021

ALGIERS- Algeria’s non-hydrocarbon exports recorded an increase of 58.83 % over the first quarter of 2021 compared with the same period in 2020, the ministry of Trade said in a statement.

According to the report, the value of exports reached 870.33 million dollars during the first quarter against 547 million in the same period of 2020, an increase of 58.83%.

Non-hydrocarbon exports represented 11.30% of total exports between January and March 2021, a rate achieved by 714 export companies.

The export of cement, specified the document, increased by 96.19% with a figure of 37.85 million dollars, sugar standing at 102 million dollars or (+ 65.71%), dates at 37.11 million dollars or ( + 40.62%) and fertilizers at $ 226.85 million (10.96%).

Oils and other products derived from distilled coal reached a value of $ 124 million, an increase of 75%. According to the same figures, the export of food products was in the order of 169 million dollars, an increase of 51%.
