ALGIERS- About 740,000 pupils will sit, as from Monday, for the intermediate school certificate examination (BEM) for the school year 2021-2022.

The students will be examined, for three days (from June 6 to 8), in nine (9) subjects, in addition to the Amazigh language for the students concerned.

For the third consecutive year, these exams will take place in exceptional circumstances, marked by the adoption of the health protocol and preventive measures against Covid-19.

The Minister of National Education, Abdelhakim Belabed assured that the BEM tests will relate to “the lessons given face-to-face at the level of educational establishments”, calling on candidates not to interact with what is broadcast on social networks.

He further underlined that the ministry “enforces the rigorous application of the law against the broadcasters of false subjects through social networks”, believing that this harmful phenomenon “is likely to disturb the candidates, even to exhaust them on the psychophysics plan”.

On this occasion, the Minister urged the parents of students to “give advice and guidance to their children to encourage them to revise and pass their exams calmly and serenely”.
